They say you can’t go home again. Well, you can, and I did this week. What the proverb should say is that it isn’t a good idea to go home again. That’s a story for another day, though.
River View RV Park is tucked away down a little road that will have you a little worried as to what’s in store, but don’t worry. The park is well maintained, the staff friendly, and the views of the Mississippi River and the bluffs of historic Natchez, Mississippi, are a photographer’s dream. One of the best parts of the park is being right beside the riverwalk, which is a great place to go for a walk or run while enjoying the beautiful riverfront views.
While the park is a bit of a maze, the roads are wide enough for even the largest RVs, and the trees are trimmed in such a way that you don’t have to worry about roof damage. There is plenty of room in the curves as well. There are times when you can tell a park was designed by someone who has spent significant time in an RV, and this is definitely one of those parks.
We booked what they call a prime site and asked for a riverfront view. The site was long enough for our 43′ 5th wheel and both the Ram 3500 dually and the Tesla Model Y if we parked them at the correct angles. Each RV spot has a tent camping spot beside it, but if no one is tent camping, you end up with a huge, lovely grass area for picnicking and relaxing. As it is November, no one was tent camping that I saw. The dog park was right across the road from our site, which was really convenient for Pika, Rooster, and Kolbe. It was well built, secure, and quite large by RV park standards and included some agility equipment. There was also a nice playground next to the dog park, but as my kids are too old for it we did not check it out.
I would say that connectivity was a bit of a let down, but as this is my hometown I’m used to it. It wasn’t so much of a let down as just the expected slow cellular service. I had 4 bars of 4g with Verizon, but it was slow and dropped a lot. Our T-Mobile hotspots through Calyx didn’t fare much better. They supposedly had 3 bars of 5G, but there were times when they just didn’t want to start to load the page. We rebooted and it did get better, but the kids did have some connectivity issues with their classes.
If you’re visiting this area, this is the park you want to book. Trust me on this.
